Prior to working for the YMCA, she worked for Sharon Regional Health System (SRHS) Personal Fitness Center team from 1997 to 2006. She started out as a certified personal trainer and aerobic instructor. In that position she worked closely with SHRS Nutritionists and Physical Therapists to develop and implement wellness programming; a few of these programs like Balance and Post Rehab are still being taught at the YMCA today. She also worked for Barbizon and Pro-Model Management Agency as a runway, print and promotional model and the Assistant Director, where she managed staff, conducted talent searches and recruited students to the finishing school(broke national sales records).

Joellen is most grateful that, in her position at the YMCA, she truly performs an integral component in enhancing the lives of the individuals and families served by the YMCA. She also finds working with other non-profit organizations like The United Way of Mercer County extremely gratifying.
