1. Will I ever have to pay the joiner fee again?
Our members remain loyal as long as they don’t let their membership lapse for more than 4 months. Consequently, they pay the lower rate. If your membership lapses more than 4 months however, then yes, you will have to pay the joiner fee again.

2. Does your facility have a swimming pool?
Our facility does not have a swimming pool. However, we do offer an aquatic class across the street at the Children’s Center which is free to members. Also, we have a swim youth swim team that swims at the Sharon High School swimming pool.

3. Do you have to be a YMCA member to participate in YMCA programs and sports?
Yes and no. Adults wishing to participate in our aerobics and wellness classes offered on a daily basis are required to be YMCA members. These programs are free included for free with your YMCA membership. However our Highmark Wellness classes are open to YMCA members as well as non members. Our Youth programs and sports are open to all children regardless of membership status. However the fees for these programs and sports are greatly discounted if you do have a membership.

4. How do I know if I qualify for the Silver Sneakers program?
The Silver Sneakers program is a program provided by Highmark Insurance for people 65+ years old. If you are at least 65 years old and your insurance is Highmark Security Blue, Freedom Blue or Medigap Blue, then you qualify for the Silver Sneakers program.

5. How old do you have to be to utilize the fitness center?
The minimum age requirement for anyone to work out in the fitness center is 14 years old. 12 and 13 year olds can work out in the fitness center only after completion of the W.I.T. program.

Anyone interested in joining the YMCA is encouraged to come in and take a tour of the facility. Stop by any time we are open and one of our staff will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
